Price Tracking Guide

Track prices on your wishlist items, view price history, and get notified when prices drop — all automatically.

How to enable price tracking

Price tracking helps you spot deals without constantly checking retailer pages yourself. Here's how to set it up:

1

Open an item in your list

Navigate to your list and tap on the item you want to track.

2

Tap “Track Price”

Click or tap the Track Price button on the item detail view.

3

Choose your alert threshold

Select a percentage threshold (e.g., 5%, 10%, 15%). You'll be notified when the price drops by at least that amount.

4

Save

That's it. WantThis will check prices in the background and send you an alert when the price drops.

Supported retailers

WantThis supports price tracking from 30+ online retailers including Amazon, John Lewis, Argos, IKEA, Currys, and many more. If a retailer isn't supported for automatic tracking, you can still save the item and check prices manually.

Viewing price history

When price history is available, you'll see:

  • The current price
  • The previous price (if it changed)
  • A history of checks (and a chart when available)

Checking price manually

If the retailer supports it, you can use Check price now to trigger a fresh check. If you see a “try again later” message, it's usually a retailer rate-limit rather than a problem with your item.

Why price tracking can fail

Price tracking depends on what the retailer page exposes. It may fail if:

  • The page doesn't show a stable price
  • The retailer blocks automated requests
  • The link is a redirect or shortened URL

Best practice:

  • Use a clean product page link
  • Avoid shortened links
  • If it still fails, keep the item saved and check manually when needed

Alerts

If alerts are enabled, WantThis can email you when a price drop exceeds your chosen threshold. You can adjust or disable alerts at any time from the item detail view.
