Affiliate Disclosure
We use affiliate links to fund the service — at no extra cost to you. Here's exactly what that means and which programmes we participate in.
Last updated: 19 May 2026
What is an affiliate link?
An affiliate link is a retailer URL with a tracking code attached. When you click through and complete a purchase, the retailer (or the affiliate network they work with) pays us a small commission. The price you pay is identical to the price you would pay if you went to the retailer directly. Commissions help keep WantThis free to use and free of advertising.
How we use them
- When you add an item from a supported retailer, we may convert the link to an affiliate version when you (or someone you share the list with) clicks it.
- The conversion is automatic and depends on which retailer you've linked to — not every retailer has an affiliate programme we're enrolled in.
- A short tracking ID is appended to the URL so the retailer can credit the purchase to WantThis. We never share your name, email, or other personal data with retailers.
Programmes we participate in
WantThis is a participant in the following affiliate programmes and networks:
- Amazon Associates UK — as an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.
- AWIN — covering UK retailers including John Lewis, ASOS, Currys, Argos, M&S, Boots and others.
- ShareASale — covering selected international retailers.
- Sovrn Commerce — long-tail coverage for retailers not directly enrolled with the larger networks.
We add or remove networks as our retailer coverage evolves. The current list always lives on this page.
Editorial independence
Affiliate revenue does not influence which items appear in your lists, the prices we show, or which retailers we support. Items in your list are the ones you add. We do not insert sponsored products, and we do not accept payment from retailers to promote specific items. When we recommend or feature retailers, that decision is editorial — not commercial.
What this means for you
- Prices and shopping experience are the same as visiting the retailer directly.
- You don't pay any premium for using affiliate links — there's no cost difference.
- You can choose to bypass affiliate links by copying and pasting the product URL directly into your browser, if you prefer.
- Click tracking uses a hashed IP and a random click identifier. See our Privacy Policy §2 for the full data picture.
Compliance
This disclosure is provided in line with UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) guidance on transparent affiliate marketing, the FTC's 16 CFR Part 255 endorsement guidelines (for any visitors based in the US), and the published operating agreements of the affiliate programmes we participate in.
